Mrinalini Kulkarni-Date, MD, MD Mrinalini Kulkarni-Date, MD
Associate Professor – University of Texas Southwestern Austin Programs

Mrinalini Kulkarni-Date, MD, is the Chief of Endocrinology at UT Southwestern Austin Programs and joined the University of Texas Physicians in 2009.

She completed medical school and residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. After completing her endocrinology fellowship, Dr. Kulkarni-Date joined the University of California, Davis, where she was Endocrine Clinic Director and was also the instructor of record for the Endocrine, Metabolism, Nutrition and Reproduction course for first and second year medical students. She is passionate about her role as a teacher of residents and fellows: the next generation of doctors.

Dr. Kulkarni-Date has been invited to speak at academic and local community venues such as the local American Diabetes Association and university programs in continuing medical education. Her areas of interest include educating residents in the management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, diseases of bone metabolism and systems improvement in diabetes care. Dr. Kulkarni-Date serves on the Endocrine Society's Clinical Affairs Cove Committee and the University Medical Center Brackenridge's Diabetes Task Force. She is board certified in Endocrinology.

Dr. Kulkarni-Date enjoys living in Austin and spending time with her sons and husband.

Pratima Kumar, MD Pratima Kumar, MD
Assistant Professor – University of Texas Southwestern Austin Programs

Pratima Kumar, MD, obtained her medical school degree from King George's Medical College, Lucknow, India in 1995. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Central Texas Medical Foundation in 1999, after which she practiced internal medicine in Austin for 9 years.

After completing a fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2008, she returned to Austin to join UT Southwestern Austin Programs as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine.

She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. She is also a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD) and a certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). She is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, Endocrine Society and Travis County Medical Society.

Dr. Kumar enjoys traveling and spending time with her family when she is away from work.

Steve Taylor, MD Steven Taylor, MD
Associate Professor – University of Texas Southwestern Austin Programs

Steven Taylor, MD, attended medical school at the University of Florida, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Upon graduation, he was named recipient of the Osler Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine and the John Gorrie Award, given by faculty to the most promising member of the graduating class. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at the University of Virginia, where he was twice named a recipient of the School of Medicine's Resident and Fellow Teaching Award. After serving a year as Chief Medical Resident at the University of Virginia, he completed fellowship training in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of California, San Francisco. There, he led studies investigating the metabolic effects of individual medications used in the long-term treatment of HIV infection. Dr. Taylor joined the University of Texas Physicians in 2011.

Dr. Taylor is board certified in Internal Medicine and Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism. He is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Thyroid Association, and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. His clinical interests include thyroid cancer, metabolic bone disease, disorders of the adrenal and pituitary glands, and endocrine complications of HIV infection. Dr. Taylor also remains actively involved in the education of medical residents, interns and students. In his spare time he enjoys college football and basketball, running, and swimming.
