Ammar Ahmed, MD Assistant Professor – University of Texas Southwestern Austin Programs Dr. Ahmed joined the faculty of the University of Texas Physicians on August 1, 2011. He practices general dermatology at both the downtown and Hays locations with expertise in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Both locations are open to all new patients, both adults and children. Dr. Ahmed was born in Charleston, West Virginia. He is a graduate of Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine, and completed his dermatology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he served as Clinic Chief Resident. He has a special interest in disorders of pigmentation including vitiligo, melasma, and other disorders of hyper- and hypo-pigmentation. In addition, he has expertise in procedural treatments such as lasers and punch grafting. Dr. Ahmed is actively involved in research, having published and presented numerous peer-reviewed articles and abstracts. His research on melasma was presented at the 2011 World Congress of Dermatology in South Korea. In his free time, Dr. Ahmed enjoys spending time with family, hiking, boating and camping. Dayna Diven, MD Professor – University of Texas Southwestern Austin Programs Associate Program Director – UT Southwestern Austin Dermatology Training Program Dr. Dayna Diven received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Following medical school, Dr. Diven completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in dermatology, both at UTMB Galveston. She began her academic career as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology in 1990. She was born in Galveston, raised in California and returned to Texas for medical school. Many of her publications in medical journals and textbooks have pertained to infectious diseases and laser applications. Dr. Diven has practiced in Texas and in Boise, ID, and is currently accepting new patients at the University of Texas Physicians practice in downtown Austin. Dr. Diven also teaches students through the University of Texas Southwestern's dermatology residency program at University Medical Center Brackenridge. Make an appointment > |
