Horatio Aldredge, MD, joined the neurology division of the University of Texas Medical Branch Austin Programs (formerly the Austin Medical Education Programs) in February 2005. Dr. Aldredge, a board-certified neurologist and clinical professor of neurology at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX, completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the University of Texas Medical Branch.

John Bertelson, MD John Bertelson, MD

John Bertelson, MD, was in private practice in Austin before joining the University of Texas Medical Branch Austin Programs’ neurology program in March 2006. A graduate of Rice University, Dr. Bertelson attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He completed his neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and his behavioral neurology fellowship at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. A former instructor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Bertelson is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. In the fall of 2008, he will receive a joint appointment with the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Bertelson’s clinical interests include cognitive disorders and traumatic brain injury.

Darryl Camp, MD Darryl Camp, MD

Darryl Camp, MD, joined the neurology division of the University of Texas Medical Branch Austin Programs (formerly the Austin Medical Education Programs) in April 2003. Dr. Camp is a board-certified neurologist with a hospital-based practice at Seton Medical Center. His medical school and residency were at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He previously maintained a busy office-based practice in Arlington, TX, where he was also medical director of Health South Rehab. His is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and the Neurology Residency Program Director at UTMB Austin Programs. He is currently the Director of the Brain & Spine Center at University Medical Center at Brackenridge and focuses his practice on stroke care.

Andrea S. Raymond, MD Andrea S. Raymond, MD
Assistant Professor – University of Texas Medical Branch Austin Programs

Andrea Raymond, MD, joined the neurology division of the University of Texas Medical Branch Austin Programs (formerly the Austin Medical Education Programs) in September 2004. She graduated from Baylor College of Medicine and completed both her neurology residency and a neurophysiology and neurocritical care fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a board-certified neurologist with an additional certification in clinical neurophysiology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Raymond is currently an Assistant Professor with the University of Texas Medical Branch, Director of the Spasticity Program at the Brain & Spine Center at University Medical Center at Brackenridge and the neurology core clerkship director.

Jason Y. Shen, MD Jason Y. Shen, MD
Faculty Member – University of Texas Medical Branch Austin Programs

Jason Shen, MD, is the director of University Medical Center at Brackenridge’s Brain and Spine Center’s Epilepsy Program. He completed his neurology residency and neurophysiology fellowship training at the University of Utah Hospital. He is a board-certified neurologist with an additional certification in clinical neurophysiology. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. Dr. Shen is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Dr. Shen is new to Austin, but says he feels right at home in this quiet university community. Dr. Shen is married with a son. When he’s not spending time with his family or seeing patients, Dr. Shen enjoys getting outside for a jog.

Kim Butrum, MS, APRN Kim Butrum, MS, APRN

Kimberly Butrum, MS, APRN has been a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner for 25 years and has a special interest in memory and thinking problems. She got her BSN degree from Loma Linda University and her MSN from Boston University. Prior to her move to Austin, she worked at the University of California, San Diego in the clinical arm of their Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center for 11 years. In San Diego, she was the winner of Nurseweek Magazine’s Excellence in Clinical Care Award and received the Alzheimer’s Association’s Above and Beyond Award.

She enjoys spending her free time with husband Terry, son Trevor and their German Shepherd/Labrador Angel.
